Mask wearing has become commonplace around the world. Though mandates have been lifted in many places, some individuals continue to still wear a mask, particularly in indoor spaces. And with predicted waves of Covid-19 to continue into the fall and winter, there are concerns that public health authorities will reinstate mask requirements and/or travel mask mandates despite evidence that they don’t work and are harmful.

Regarding mask mandates, many take the stance that it’s better to be safe than sorry. But others have questions. Are masks really safe? Do they prevent the transmission of SARS-CoV-2? Do you need to wear one for the benefit of others? Do mandates work as they claim to?

The following is a guide for parents, teachers, medical professionals, and all people that addresses these common questions, gives guidance and encouragement to those wishing to advocate for themselves and their dependents, and outlines seven solid reasons to end mask mandates for good. FURTHER UPDATE!

“There is no evidence they [masks] make any difference” – Large study published January 2023

A New York Times article appearing 21 February 2023 drew widespread public attention to a large research project into the efficacy of masks during the pandemic. The study’s conclusion: There is no evidence that masks make any difference to the spread of viruses.

“…when it comes to the population-level benefits of masking, the verdict is in: Mask mandates were a bust. Those skeptics who were furiously mocked as cranks and occasionally censored as “misinformers” for opposing mandates were right. The mainstream experts and pundits who supported mandates were wrong. In a better world, it would behoove the latter group to acknowledge their error, along with its considerable physical, psychological, pedagogical and political costs.”
Bret Stephens, NY Times, 21 February 2023

The study itself, published by the Cochrane Library, is to be found at this link: https://www.cochranelibrary.com/cdsr/doi/10.1002/14651858.CD006207.pub6/full

Laura Dodsworth, author of A State of Fear, bluntly states in response to the NY Times article: “The New York Times is wrong. Mask mandates didn’t do ‘nothing’. They wrought havoc. (click here for link to her response). In her book, published 2021, she brings evidence that it was known already beforehand that the masks were and would be ineffective, but they (the governments) decided to use it as a tool for reminding people of ‘danger’, for instilling a constant level of fear.

“One government insider told me that ‘we are lying when we say masks work. They are a signal, a psyop. And we’ve criminalised not wearing them. Masks also transfer the blame onto individuals for the epidemic spreading. We have people counting the unmasked on public transport, policing each other. It is deeply unethical that we have set people against each other in this way. It allows the creation of an “out group” to blame.’”
Laura Dodsworth, 24 Feb 2023, in her response to the NYTimes article
