More and more protests – not covered by media… here South Africa, Romania.

Do we hear of the massive protests in last days in Romania? Directly from an eyewitness account in Romania, there have been huge widespread protests across the country against the governments measures to increase restrictions again on meeting and movements, with lockdowns in store – and the public had had enough! Their memory of authoritarian rule under communism was still too near. This, again, is directly from a Romanian living in the country there, witnessing what is going on, and knowing some of the real reasons for the recent downfall of the government, which was proposing more restrictions and more lockdown…

Further from our correspondent in Romania: “…it all started with protests against the green passport/medical passport… And also against public restrictions.
And [there was] a court case – if I understood correctly started by law students protesting against closing the top law university in Cluj – they took the university to court and it was ruled in their favour – saying that no educational institution should be closed – forcing the government to change their restrictions…”

We are waiting for some video content from Romania on the demos. But this one below from South Africa is also one which we haven’t heard anything about in British press. Apparently, the march was met by police with a water canon, but the water canon broke down and didn’t work – prompting one bystander to half cynically, half joyfully remark, thank goodness for corruption and ineptitude in the police forces!
