Face masks – protection or harm?

While the UK government has for the moment, as of beginning of February 2022, suspended the obligation for wearing face masks in indoor public spaces (unless exempt), the fear still remains, and many still wear the masks, thinking this is protecting them. There is now no legal obligation, even if some place asks you to still wear, and if you do not feel comfortable in such places to wear a mask you can in any case claim exemption. Many countries outside of the UK still have requirements for facemasks indoors.

So, what is — or was — the case for face masks? From the start, even politicians admitted they were of little use as regards the spread of viruses, with many studies confirming this and even Fauci early on making statements to this effect. Then the tune changed. Laura Dodsworth discusses this in some detail in her excellent book, A State of Fear, quoting government sources noting that it will remind people that there is ‘danger’ and, after lockdown, it would help people feel confident to go shopping again. The leaflet below explains in simple terms with further references why face masks not only do not help but even cause harm — and this is especially the case for children. No children should ever have been required to wear a face mask, especially in schools. There is also a link for downloading the document, and additionally downloading as an A5 folded leaflet. Though it was designed for the pre-February 1st situation in the UK where they were still required in public places, the information is still valid and important for knowing why you should not feel pressured to put one on out of conformity – for your health’s sake!
