C.S. Lewis wrote in his book, Abolition of Man, about the erosion of values leading to increasing government tyranny.
The Light Paper in April 2023 reviewed his book. C.S. Lewis’ observations are very prescient for a process we see almost everywhere today. His thoughts were echoed in George Orwell’s novels of 1984 and Animal Farm.
“In The Abolition of Man, one of the most
prophetic books of the 20th century, he
[Lewis] writes about the presence of a powerful
elite that would seek to radically transform
society for their own ends…This will not be achieved by force…
Instead, the key strategy is to erode the
traditional, established values of civil
society, and thereby undermine the
individual’s sense of what is right and
wrong.”
The individual’s sense of right and wrong will be replaced by the ONE voice (government, WHO, etc), put on us, and gradually accepted, without our own thinking. Such is the scenario Lewis envisaged, and which we see happening now more so than ever right under our noses. All other views, instead of being thought about, are simply ‘disinformation’ and, even in ‘democracies’, censored……..
Below we reproduce the review of Abolition of Man as it appeared in The Light Paper. It is well worth the read – and the book itself, of course, along with the others mentioned above by Orwell.
